Trailer lights not working on one side

Dec 29, 2009 · Ironically, the 7>4 connector does not have a prong that would attach to the (+) terminal on the 7 pin side. It does have white wire where the (-) terminal is on the 7 pin connector. The MFD registers that a trailer has been hooked up but tells me to check the "RH turn light"; "LH turn light"; then the "trailer Brake lights". If the lights on one side still aren't working, you may have a break in the wire. To test for a broken wire, check the color of the wire going to the socket and then find that wire on the connector in front. Get out your battery charger and put a nail in the POSITIVE clip. Clip the NEGATIVE clip on the white ground terminal of the trailer plug. Power up the charger and one at a time touch the nail to each of the three remaining pins (left, right and running/tail lights). Next, take a look at the pin heads. These have a small split in the middle. Sometimes these can become squeezed together but can be separated gently so that they flare out slightly using a knife or small flat screwdriver.
